Music for Seniors

Music has a profound impact on our emotions, making it an effective tool for supporting seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia. When individuals experience frustration or agitation, playing a calming song can help alleviate their distress and soothe their nerves. Engaging in activities like singing, dancing, and rhythm exercises can stimulate the mind, keeping seniors active and engaged. Additionally, participating in music has been shown to enhance memory and concentration in older adults.

Music for Seniors bridges the gap between experienced teachers and older adults through a program crafted to engage, entertain, and educate. This initiative promotes health and wellbeing, reduces feelings of isolation, and enriches the lives of all participants, fostering a more vibrant and connected community.

Schedule

Werner Music offers lessons in two semesters over the year and are structured around the public school calendar. Semester one lessons begin the second week of September to allow a smooth transition from summer holidays back to school and run until the week before Christmas. Semester two begins the second week of of January and ends the last week of June, typically at the end of the school year.

Students are given the opportunity to showcase their talent and progress for friends and family by offering two performance recitals, one at the end of each semester. These recitals give students a chance to really shine and build confidence in themselves and their musical ability.
